student of art history (graduate, University of Toronto), I furthered my interest in art (and more specifically the art of personal adornment) through the study of fashion illustration at George Brown College, Toronto and I honed my jewelry skills at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario and at the École de joaillerie in Montreal. I also have an enduring love and fascination for glass. I studied stained glass, traditional painting on glass, glass casting and fusing at Verrerie d'Art Classique and Espace Verre in Montreal. Combining two of my favourite materials, glass and metal, has led me to the path I am on now.
I'm always working on several collections at once. The pieces in my fused glass series are more modern than my other work, which is often based on historical styles. However, I do admit that there is sometimes an overlap!
I like to play with design and texture in metal and I have a series of just silver designs. But, I can't live without colour, and it will always have its place in my work. It could be glass, beads, stones, or some, as yet undiscovered technique.
I'm a perfectionist, but I find beauty in the imperfect. (On my list of things to do is to get better acquainted with the Japanese concept of wabi sabi.) My work does not look machine-made. It has the uniqueness and the soul of all carefully hand-crafted objects. And I feel that jewelry, especially, should be unique and should be a reflection of the wearer's individuality.
My works have traveled far and wide, with buyers from North and South America, Europe and Japan.
